Star Education is a living project. We continuously add new content, refine existing tools and listen to feedback from those who use the site in their everyday work. What we offer today is not the same as what we'll offer tomorrow – and that's exactly how it should be.

🌍 Accessible for Everyone

We believe every child should have the opportunity to learn on their own terms. That's why several of our games and tools support multiple languages, making them especially valuable for students who have recently arrived in a new country and have not yet fully mastered the language of instruction. Being able to understand content in one's native language can make a big difference – both for learning and for the feeling of belonging.

We also strive to integrate text-to-speech on as many pages and tools as possible. By allowing content to be read aloud, Star Education becomes accessible to students who are not yet reading fluently, have reading or writing difficulties, or simply learn best by listening.

💾 Your work stays with you

Everything you make in the apps – drawings, mind maps, word lists, stories and results – is saved in your own browser, not on our servers. We cannot see it, and we cannot take it away from you.

You do not need an account to use anything on Kunskapsstjärnan. Everything is open to everyone, always.

Under My data you can see exactly what is stored, how much space it takes, and export it all to a file or delete it. The export can be loaded again on another device, so you can move your work yourself.

If you change browser or clear your browsing data, what is stored is gone. That is the flip side of nothing ever leaving your device – so export anything you want to keep for good.

🔑 Accounts for schools

Pupils and parents cannot create accounts themselves. Teacher accounts are created by the school, and pupil accounts are in turn created by the teacher. This is deliberate: no child's details should reach us unless an adult and a data controller have taken responsibility for them.

Before a school can create pupil accounts, its controller must sign a data processing agreement. That is a requirement under the GDPR and something only the controller can do. Without the agreement every app and teaching tool still works – locally, without accounts.

Schools with a Star subscription can also let pupils' work sync between devices, and the teacher can follow it in TTime. Even then the original stays on the pupil's own device.

🍪 Cookies and privacy

We use as few cookies as possible. The necessary ones keep track of whether you are signed in and cannot be switched off – without them signing in does not work. They contain nothing about what you do in the apps.

Ads are only shown on the menu pages, never inside an exercise. On all other pages nothing is loaded from Google at all. You choose whether the ads may be personalised – that is, whether Google may use cookies to pick ads based on you. Schools with a Star subscription are entirely ad-free.

You can change your choice at any time: open the cookie choice again.

Settings such as language and theme are also stored locally in your browser so the site looks the same next time. They follow the device, not you.
